Carnival Cruise Line passengers were ‘passing out’ in heat during ship delay

Carnival Cruise Line travellers in America claimed they were “passing out” as they waited for “hours” in the Miami sunshine when their ship was delayed. Irked passengers took to Twitter during the sweltering temperatures, as they were set to embark on a seven day cruise. They plastered images showing dozens of suitcases left outside, as well as passengers in summer dresses and shirts with their hands on their hips in frustration. Some compared the delayed embarkation on Carnival Magic, on April 14, to the failed Fyre Festival.

Meanwhile, the majority flagged the severe health dangers of the bunch of travellers being forced to wait outside for too long.

Some claimed they had been delayed for three hours, yet this has not been verified.

One took to the social media site to rage: “Carnival Magic’s embarkation has turned into fyre fest 2.

“People passing out all over from the heat. In line to board for hours.”

Another added: “They delayed boarding people for hours. People were passing out due to the heat.”

A third continued: “A lot of people missed flights, had to stay overnight in Miami with no means for compensating anyone.”

Another surmised: “I’d like to know what went wrong. The terminal staff blamed prior guests. The charter guests say it was a luggage mess for them.”

The images show a security guard at the PortMiami terminal watching over the guests.

However, no ambulance or paramedic presence could be seen.

A Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson confirmed to The Sun the ship was late to board at 6.30pm, but there was “no impact” on the route itinerary.

They added: “Embarkation at PortMiami for today’s voyage of Carnival Magic has been delayed due to several factors, including late debarkation from a previous voyage.

“Embarkation for the next voyage is ongoing and we expect no impact on the itinerary of this next seven-day cruise.

“Carnival sincerely apologises for this inconvenience and appreciates our guests patience and understanding.”

A letter, published by a passenger on Twitter, showed the firm had offered a $50 credit for passengers on their cruise account, to “enjoy something on us”.

Carnival Cruise Line has endured a tough month after a lift malfunctioned on another ship recently, leaving passengers trapped.

A group of six males were caught in a lift for a total of 45 minutes.

The bunch claimed the lift cable had snapped during the terrifying incident on board one of its cruises.

The firm confirmed the guests were stuck for 30 to 40 minutes during the ordeal.

Carnival added to “Unfortunately, because of the extensive damage to the elevator doors and cabling caused by the guests, the work took longer than expected.” has gone to the firm for further comment.
