With all the hype surrounding Disneyland and Disney World’s new Star Wars land, one of Disneyland’s most overlooked areas is about to get a much-needed toon-up.
Toontown will be the home of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a cutting-edge dark ride slated to open in 2022, park officials announced Friday.
The Runaway Railway is currently under construction at Disney World and, though it was initially slated to open this fall at Hollywood Studios, the attraction has been delayed until 2020.
The project will send guests on a wild train ride through a Mickey Mouse cartoon short and a landscape where anything goes, reports The Arizona Republic, which is part of the USA TODAY Network. Guests will be transported into the animated world of the Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts and feature its retro, stylized characters and look and feel.
