When going on holiday with a partner, or even alone, you might want to use the time to relax. For some, that means getting a bit frisky and enjoying time in bed – possibly with a vibrator or sex toy to liven things up.
However, it can be nerve-wracking to take anything of the sort in your suitcase – especially in cabin bags which might be searched by security officers at the airport. It's also important to remember that sex toys are not legal everywhere on the planet!
Nobody wants to get in trouble with the law over a vibrator or embarrassed ahead of your trip away. So, it's important to know what you're doing when you're going on a dirty weekend away.

Anna Hint, a dating expert at a sex-positive dating app Pure shared her six tips for traveling with sex toys. Considering searches for "travelling with a sex toy" are up 276% ahead of the December holidays it looks like the advice is timely! Check out Anna's top tips below…
1. Know the law
Many countries won’t give your sex toy a second thought, but not all. Countries like Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates do have restrictions, so you need to do your research to avoid facing a fine, potentially getting detained and having your sex toy confiscated. Even if there are no restrictions, ask yourself whether your toy could be considered to be shaped like a weapon and, if there’s any doubt, leave it at home.
2. Prevent unexpected buzzing
Even if bringing your toys along from the trip isn’t against the law, do you really want an unexpected buzz to draw attention to it as you pass through security? If it doesn’t have a travel lock, remove the batteries or drain the charge before you pack your bags. That might mean using it every night for a week before you head off, but at least you’ll sleep well on the flight.
3. Bag it
Before you pack it, bag it. Airport security bins are crawling with germs, and you don’t want your toy to get contaminated. Plus, in the unlikely chance that airport security does want to sift through your personal belongings, you won’t have to worry about them putting their hands all over it if it’s safely stored in a clear container.
4. Check your liquids
Sex toys are rarely a problem, but liquids can be. If you need to bring along lube or toy cleaner, it’s important that you follow the rules. Security won’t let it slide to avoid embarrassment. Less than 3.4 ounces (100ml) is fine for liquids stored in carry-on bags, and there’s typically no limit if it’s in checked luggage. To make it easier for staff to identify, it’s best to leave liquids in their original packaging until you reach your destination.
5. Play it cool
If you’re acting nervous, you’re far more likely to get stopped. You’re not breaking the law, so stop worrying. Even if security does question you on the dildo in your backpack, it’s not the first they’ve seen, and I’m sure they have a toy or two back at home. Be confident and stay calm — there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little pleasure.
6. Expect to lose it
It’s unlikely, but there’s always a chance that airport security will find a reason to confiscate your toy. You won’t be in a position to argue (unless you’re willing to miss your flight and head back home), so don’t pack anything you don’t want to lose. If it’s expensive, one-of-a-kind, or you can’t live without it long-term, leave it at home for once you return. It’ll feel all the better after a period apart, anyway.
