Windstar Cruises said crew vaccination issues have forced it to drop most of the Caribbean ports of call on its post-pandemic reintroduction cruise of the Star Breeze.

The line still plans to operate the June 19-26 cruise but on a modified itinerary that will include days at sea, offshore anchorages and possibly excursions in St. Maarten, the departure point of the cruise, Windstar spokeswoman Sarah Scoltock said.

Windstar has made the cruise free for all passengers who choose to take it, Scoltock said.

The cruise is the first for Windstar since it suspended sailings, and the first for the Star Breeze since it was stretched in November 2020 to add 50 cabins.

Scoltock said Windstar was not able to source enough Covid vaccine for crew in the Caribbean to meet the minimum standard set by some of its destinations. All passengers on the cruise must have proof of inoculation.

The original itinerary included Anguilla, St. Barts and four stops in the British Virgin Islands. Scoltock said Windstar still hopes that it can call in at least one of the destinations.
