Carnival's Adolfo Perez receives CLIA's Lifetime Achievement Award: Travel Weekly

Adolfo Perez, Carnival Cruise Line’s senior vice president of global sales and trade marketing, has received CLIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022.

Perez was presented with the honor at the 2022 CLIA Hall of Fame Cruise Industry Awards, where he was inducted into CLIA’s Hall of Fame by Carnival Cruise Line chief commercial officer Ken Tate.

The honor coincides with Perez marking 40 years with Carnival. Perez started with Carnival Cruise Line as an embarkation agent at PortMiami in 1982 at age 16.

Even though Carnival has since grown to become a huge cruise company with several brands, Perez said that “from the Carnival Cruise Line side, it still feels like a family.”

“I’m proud to be part of this family — this company and industry,” Perez said. “It’s been an amazing 40 years, and I look forward to more fun with the Carnival family ahead.”

Over his four decades with the company, Perez served as vice president of Carnival’s contact center and opened Carnival’s London office as vice president of Carnival UK and Ireland before becoming senior vice president of global sales and trade marketing for the company’s consumer and trade businesses in the U.K., Ireland and Australia.

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said Perez “epitomizes the essence of partnership and support to our travel partners.” Carnival Corp. CEO Arnold Donald called Perez “an integral part of Carnival’s success” and congratulated him on “an incredible career.”

Perez led the reinvigoration of Carnival’s relationship with travel advisors by introducing programs such as Travel Agents Rock (and with a tattoo to prove it), launching his Live from Adolfo’s Desk webinars and through communication from his Facebook page.  He also instituted the Agentpalooza Bus Tour and a consumer-focused campaign to promote travel agents, “WUATA: Why Use a Travel Advisor.”

Perez says agents have been a critical component of Carnival’s success since its early days.

CLIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals who make remarkable, positive contributions to the cruise industry. Recipients are determined by a selection panel, which includes CLIA leadership as well as its Strategic Trade Advisory and Review Board and Trade Relations Committee.
