The former Costa NeoRomantica, the 1993-built ship that was sold to Celestyal Cruises in July 2020 as part of Carnival Corp.’s sell-off of 19 older vessels, will be sold for scrap.

Celestyal said last month that it had sold the ship before it ever entered service, citing market conditions from the ongoing pandemic. The Greek line had named the ship the Celestyal Experience. 

Celestyal did not reveal the ship’s purchaser but said it made a $3.6 million profit on the transaction.

As first reported by Cruise Industry News, the Gadani Ship Breaking Yard in Pakistan posted photos and videos of the ship on its Facebook page.

Gadani said that the Antares
Experience, the ship’s name since being sold, is “to be beached at Gadani.” 

Celestyal acquired the 1,800-passenger NeoRomantica from Costa Cruises in July 2020.  It was the second Costa ship to exit its fleet since Carnival Corp.’s decision to shed its oldest ships. The 23-year-old Costa Victoria was sold for scrap.
