Waldorf Astoria Hotels makes its Kuwait debut: Travel Weekly

Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts has debuted in Kuwait City with its recent opening of the Waldorf Astoria Kuwait.

The 200-room property is connected to luxury shopping mall The Avenues and located in proximity to sites like the Kuwait Opera House, the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre and the Grand Mosque.

Among the hotel’s higher-tier accommodations are its Ikaros Club rooms, Ikaros Club Suites, Presidential Suites and Royal Suite, all of which grant guests access to The Ikaros Club area. Ikaros Club perks include exclusive food and beverage offerings and access to a library, business center and private meetings room.

The property’s signature restaurant, Ava, serves up a mix of French, Italian and Greek fare. Later this year, the Waldorf Astoria Kuwait will add an outpost of Japanese restaurant chain Roka, which specializes in grilled “robatayaki” cuisine showcasing various meats, seafood and vegetables.

The hotel is also home to the Peacock Alley Cafe, which pays homage to the original Peacock Alley eatery that once occupied a lobby-level space at the Waldorf Astoria New York. The venue offers coffee, chocolates and macaroons, as well as afternoon tea.

Other highlights include a pool and lounge area, which becomes the Middle Eastern-inspired Kubbar Poolside Restaurant at night; a ballroom with capacity for up to 720; and a 13,560-square-foot Waldorf Astoria Spa, which is slated to open this fall.

The Waldorf Astoria Kuwait is Hilton’s third property in the emirate, joining the Hilton Kuwait Resort and Hilton Garden Inn Kuwait.
