74th IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit in Sydney
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is organizing its 74th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit in Sydney from 3-5 June 2018.
The event will attract the top leadership of the air transport industry. IATA’s member airlines welcomed Qantas’ invitation to host the AGM in 2018 at the close of the 73rd AGM in Cancún, Mexico, in June 2017 which attracted some 1,000 aviation leaders from IATA member airlines, industry stakeholders, strategic partners and members of the media.
Qantas is a founding member of IATA and four of its CEOs have chaired the IATA Board of Governors. That includes the current CEO, Alan Joyce, who was Chairman in 2012-13, and has served on the Board of Governors since 2009.
2018 is the third time the IATA AGM is being organized in Australia, with the previous years being 2000 and 1961, both in Sydney.
Monday 4 June will be entirely dedicated to the World Air Transport Summit featuring keynote presentations, panel discussions and media briefings covering the industry’s most important issues. Highlights include:
- The IATA Director General’s Report on the Industry
- Updated Airline Economic Outlook
- Opening Press Conference
- CEO Insight Debate
- Fighting Human Trafficking
- Harnessing the Power of Data
The morning of Tuesday 5 June will feature the 74th IATA Annual General Meeting, including consideration of industry resolutions, the report from the Board of Governors to the AGM, nominations to the Board of Governors, keynote presentations, media briefings, and the closing press conference. Additionally, IATA experts will be available for interviews by appointment throughout the event.
A preliminary program is now available.
