Ernest Hilaire has been named minister of tourism for St. Lucia.
Hilaire served St. Lucia as high commissioner to the U.K. from 2012 to 2016, has been a member of the House of Assembly for the St. Lucia labor party and was the former CEO of the West Indies Cricket Board.
“Tourism is one of the main economic drivers of the St. Lucian economy, which strengthens our supply chain, promotes economic development and creates significant employment,” Hilaire said of his appointment to the Cabinet of Ministers.
His portfolio also includes investment, creative industries, culture and information.
“I look forward to serving wholeheartedly, with focus on further bolstering the tourism sector and placing people at the center of the sector,” he said.
