American Airlines flight diverted after odor detected in the cockpit; 6 seek medical help

An American Airlines flight headed for New Jersey Monday morning needed to make an emergency return to its Miami origin after an odor was reported in the cockpit, and six crew members requested medical attention upon landing.

American flight 1060 left Miami International Airport at 8:36 a.m., per flight tracking website Flight Aware, and was back at its origin at 9:10 a.m. due to the reported odor.

“Two pilots and three flight attendants requested medical attention and one flight attendant asked to be taken to the hospital as a precaution,” American spokeswoman Alexis Aran Coello told USA TODAY in a statement. “No passengers requested medical attention.
