Delta plane clips wing of another at LAX, causing delays

Passengers faced flight delays Monday after one Delta plane clipped the wing of another at Los Angeles International Airport.

“On pushback from the gate, the right winglet of flight 2377 made contact with the left wing of flight 696 parked at the adjacent gate,” Delta confirmed in a statement to USA TODAY.

There were no reported injuries.

“Delta apologizes to the customers for the delay this has caused,” the statement continued.

Flight 696, going to Atlanta, experienced a two-hour delay. Flight 2377 was bound for Salt Lake City and faced a nine-hour delay. When possible, customers were re-booked on other flights.

Maintenance teams are looking into the aircraft involved.
