A young man has faced shame on the internet after refusing to sit next to his girlfriend on a flight – and people are outraged because of his reasoning.
The couple – both aged 21 – had decided to take a trip to Ohio, USA, in celebration of finishing their university exams.
To do so a four hour flight from the West Coast was required so they booked the tickets and got on their way.

At the end of the holiday tension between the pair caused friction, firstly because he had accidentally pushed her off their bed at one point, reports the Mirror.
"When we woke up she was immediately angry because I accidentally pushed her off the bed lol," he recalled on Reddit. "Then she started finding things to complain about.
"I suggested we get the free breakfast with our hotel instead of going to some coffee shop and when we went she kept complaining about how the coffee is weak and she needs another one, so I complied and we went to a coffee shop."
According to the increasingly irritated man, at the airport she began "complaining more", before he ultimately said he was tired and didn't want to speak to her until they got home.
"She gets all mad and complains," he continues, seemingly shocked.
"We have different seats on the plane because the flight is packed and overbooked. I tell her it’s fine it’s just four hours.
"She then comes to my seat and tells me the woman sitting next to her is willing to trade seats with me. I literally said 'give me a break' and told her no.
"She went back crying but I just wanted a damn break. When we got home she started crying even more and said I embarrassed her on the flight."
The boyfriend turned to the internet to find out whether he had been in the wrong, and received a very clear reply.
One commenter weighed in: "She started her day by being pushed out of bed (which, unless she’s 30lbs, takes some real force), then you were rude to her the rest of the day and complained that she was in a bad mood? Just break up."
Another wrote: "You’re saying your behaviour was appropriate because you were stressed because you just finished finals but so did she.
"I would be in a c**p mood too if I was woken up by a grown man shoving me off the bed and then laughing in my face.
"On top of you just being so rude to her for being unhappy. Leave her you don’t even like her."

A third person wrote simply: "Do you like your girlfriend at all?"
Another commenter suggested that the situation was far graver than a simple argument on a flight.
"I'm also pretty sure you and your girlfriend aren't compatible," they argued.
"Nothing you have written here suggests you have even the slightest affection for her. Let her go for her sake."
