A British mum booked a Ryanair flight for herself and her two kids to Italy to get a pizza as it was cheaper than a day trip to London.
Roxanne Balciunas, from Sheffield, often embarks on 'one day' trips abroad with her two children Cherry, six, and Tayo, 14 around school. They have already ticked off day trips to Amsterdam and Belgium.
But this time, the mum decided to whisk her kids off to Italy for just 24 hours to explore and enjoy some good food. Roxanne picked her kids up from school to catch a 7pm Ryanair flight from Manchester Airport to Pisa, costing only £39 each.

The adventurous trio landed in Pisa at 10pm and checked into a £150 hotel for the night. After a good night's rest, they spent the next day exploring the city before flying home at 6pm.
Roxanne revealed that the family only spent £50 during their Italian escapade, enjoying pizza, gelatos and even buying souvenirs. She shared a video of their whirlwind trip on TikTok and Facebook, captioning it: '24 hours in Pisa to eat some pizza'.
While in Italy, the family visited the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa Cathedral and the Opera del Duomo Museum, all free of charge. As everything was within walking distance, including the airport, they didn't spend a penny on public transport.
Roxanne believes that a day is enough to explore most cities. She and her kids have already enjoyed day trips to Amsterdam and Belgium, with Copenhagen and Ireland next on their list.
She said: "It's a cheaper alternative to a day out at home. If we were to go to a theme park it would cost a couple of hundred for the day with food, travel and the tickets. It was definitely cheaper than a trip to London for sure."
The total cost of their Italian adventure? Just £39 each for return flights, £150 for a hotel stay, and £50 spent on food and souvenirs. They even managed to visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Opera del Duomo Museum for free.
"We enjoyed pizza while we were there too. It was covered in salami and pepperoni and my son said it was the best pizza he had ever eaten," Roxanne added.
She also mentioned that these trips are a great way to reduce her kids' screen time. Both Cherry and Tayo thoroughly enjoyed their 24-hour Italian adventure on June 23.
Roxanne shared: "On a Saturday at home we wouldn't normally be doing a lot. The main reason for this trip was to try and get the kids off their phones and iPad."
She added: "We've done these kinds of day trips before. We've been to Amsterdam before and Belgium for the day too and I'm taking Tayo to Copenhagen for the Christmas markets in November.

"Ireland is one of the next trips on the list too. It's just cheaper and I think in some cities, 24-hours is enough to see everything. The kids loved it and were really excited. The kids love seeing the leaning tower of Pisa and took lots of photos."
After returning from their quick trip to Pisa, Roxanne posted a TikTok video showing their budget getaway. Other travellers quickly praised her money-saving trick.
One user said: "This is brilliant. Thanks for sharing." Another added: "We need to do a trip like this one day!" A third commented: "What a great idea."
