Despite the year being well into October, there’s still time to catch some golden sunshine by the coast. According to new research from Park Holidays UK, there’s been a huge surge in demand for holidays in southern England.
The team have rounded up some of this year’s best seaside towns and even if the weather doesn’t hold up, there are plenty of cosy places to hole up with a hot chocolate in these coastal hotspots.

Situated on Kent’s north coast, Whitstable has been famous for oysters since Roman times. According to experts, the best time to eat an oyster is in any month with an ‘r’ in its name, making autumn the perfect time to try the fishy delicacy.
An easy day trip from London, Whitstable has a stony beach and a huge range of pubs and cafes to enjoy a seaside snack.

Brixham took second place on the list. The spokesperson said: “Known as one of Britain’s prettiest towns, this colourful port is the go-to destination on the English Riviera for those who love watersports from fishing to sea kayaking. Brixham also offers a range of arts and culture, phenomenal local food and unique attractions including a stunning art deco lido.”
