Britain’s most travelled pets are our new favourite travel influencers

In Britain we’re a nation of animal lovers – there are apparently 34 million pets in the UK according to PFMA.

Dogs and cats are the most common with around 12 million of each taking residence across the country.

But, there are also birds, rabbits, horses, fish, hamsters and more receiving all our love in the 3.2million pet owning households of the UK.

Some travel lovers have even begun to take their pets on holiday with them as a part of the family.

Unsurprisingly, there are a huge number of travelling pooches and cats who go everywhere with their owners – from the beach to staycations in Cornwall.

There are even campsites set up specifically so you can take your dog with you.

Park Leisure recently launched the search to find the UK’s most travelled pet and award its owner with a fun break away.

Albert the Cairnoodle (Cairn Terrier Poodle) from Lowestoft was the ultimate winner, but we cannot get over how sweet all of the runners up were too.

On their win Robyn, Albert’s owner, said: “He’s a bundling ball of fluff and still looks and acts like a puppy.

“He sadly lost his brother two years ago and we are so happy to be able to take him on this holiday and spoil him with some special walks as he is missing his best friend.”

They will receive a pet-friendly break at a Park Leisure holiday site to celebrate the win.

Tony Clish, Commercial Director at Park Leisure at Park Leisure, said: “We’re thrilled to see so many pets getting to enjoy UK staycations alongside their owners.

“We want to say a huge congratulations to our winner Robyn and her lovely pooch, we can’t wait to welcome you along to one of our holiday parks, where you’ll get the chance to take some more competition winning photographs in our beautiful surroundings.”
