Whether you’re planning to get away for some winter sun or you’ve got family members you’re hoping to reunite with, you might be wondering what the current travel restrictions for Cyprus are. Here’s everything you need to plan a trip to Cyprus.
In 2019, more than 1.2 million Brits travelled to Cyprus, making British tourists the biggest nationality group of travellers to the nation.
With tourism one of the largest industries in Cyprus, they’ve been welcoming back holidaymakers with open arms – as long as you abide by their entry requirements.
The average temperature in Cyprus in October sits around a balmy 26C, so if you’re looking for some winter sun, this could be the perfect place for you.
If you’re still unclear about what you need to travel to Cyprus, check with your airline or your hotel, who will be able to explain everything for you.
What travel list is Cyprus on?
Cyprus is currently on the UK’s amber list for travel.
If you are returning to the UK from Cyprus, you will need to have a negative PCR test, book and pay for Covid tests to be taken once you’re back in the UK and complete a passenger locator form.
This also means after travelling to Cyprus, if you are not fully vaccinated, you have to quarantine upon your return to the UK for 10 days taking Covid tests on day two and day eight of quarantine.
If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to quarantine when you return to the UK, but you must take a Covid test by day two of your stay in the UK.
If you’re thinking of heading to Cyprus soon, don’t forget the UK’s travel list is changing on October 4, 2021.
The current traffic light system will be replaced by a simplified version, leaving just the red list and the rest of the world.
For Cyprus, although it will no longer be an amber list country, the rules above will remain the same.

Fully-vaccinated travellers will not need to take a PCR test before travelling to Cyprus, but they will need to show proof of their vaccinations, such as on the NHS app.
Check the Cyprus FlightPass website for which vaccinations are accepted by the Cypriot authorities.
Unvaccinated travellers arriving in Cyprus need to take a PCR test within 72 hours of leaving the UK and provide proof of a negative result.
When you arrive in Cyprus you will then need to take another PCR test and isolate until the result comes back negative, but don’t panic: the result should be given within a few hours.
Cyprus is currently using a system called SafePass which is an app you store your proof of vaccination on or proof of negative Covid tests.
The SafePass app is needed to enter closed spaces including restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
To qualify for a SafePass, unvaccinated visitors to Cyprus are required to take a PCR or antigen (rapid) test on day seven following their arrival into the country and then every 72 hours.
Children under 12 don’t have to be tested.
Northern Cyprus
All travellers need to get an AdaPass code online before travelling to Northern Cyprus.
To get your code, you will need to upload a negative PCR test result and a vaccination certificate.
Travellers from the UK arriving at Northern Cyprus will need to prove a negative PCR test result taken within the last 72 hours.
If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to quarantine upon arrival in Northern Cyprus.
Unvaccinated travellers need to quarantine for five days at an authority-designated accommodation.
