While Disney parks have had Gay Days, or unofficial days at Disney parks to celebrate the LGBTQ community, the Disney corporation hasn’t hosted an official Pride or LGBTQ-related event.
That’s all going to change this year.
Disneyland Paris has stepped to the forefront and announced that they will be the first to host a ‘Magical Pride’ event on June 1, 2019.
Their website says, “Live your best life and shine with the joy of diversity at Magical Pride, a dazzling party lighting up Disneyland Paris on 1st June 2019.”
It also encourages attendees to “Dress like a dream, feel fabulous and experience Walt Disney Studios Park like never before – loud, proud, and alive with all the colors of the rainbow.”
Magical Pride will include a parade, dance party with Disney characters, live performances by artists (currently unknown), thrilling attractions and rides open late at night, and a “vibrant Pride atmosphere.”
There are also special packages for travelers who identify as LGBTQ and their family and friends. Keep in mind that the website says: “Please note that Magical Pride is at extra charge.”
While we wait to hear more details on the artists and activities at Magical Pride at Disneyland Paris, we can all rejoice in this big step forward by the Disney brand in welcoming and celebrating the LGBTQ community.
