It’s a question that dances in small talk and coffee chats, breakout rooms and first dates. A question marked with centuries of othering and ostracizing, a quip meant to demean roots planted in these United States. We’re from here – children born from lineages of immigrants and tribes, a community whose diversity reflects the geography we span. We’re growing here – grappling with an intersection of othering and belonging, reclaiming a history long-erased in the American education system, and redefining what it means to be an Asian American. We’re not leaving here, we’re staying. Boldly, loudly, and proudly.
