Longleat to host epic ‘Sky Safari’ with 100 hot air balloons next month

Brits looking for the perfect photo opportunity or some cracking weekend plans can head to Longleat, a stately home in Wiltshire.

The popular family attraction will host a spectacular Sky Safari next month with more than 100 hot air balloons set to take off from the grounds, in all shapes and sizes.

It will even launch its own lion-shaped hot air ballon which will be joined by a menagerie of flying animals including a koala, cheetah, wolf and penguin.

Running from September 9 to 11 the three-day festival will feature daily mass launches, night glows set to music and a host of other fun activities.

Now in its fifth year running the Sky Safari is accompanied by model balloon flight demonstrations, street entertainment and offers a number of eatery options.

The hot air balloons will be entered into a competition and crews from as far as Alaska will be joining enthusiasts at the stately home and safari park.

And, for the first time there will be a glowing night display on the Sunday.

Tethered balloons fire up their burners in time to an amazing musical soundtrack.

The three-day festival is in addition to the Park’s usual attractions, including the drive-through Safari, Koala Creek, Longleat House, Jungle Cruise, Longleat Railway, Adventure Castle, Jungle Kingdom and many more attractions.

The event is weather dependent so timings may change if things don’t go to plan.

The first mass launch will take place between 7.15am and 8.30am so be sure to get there bright and early.

An evening launch will happen from 5pm to 6.30pm and the night glow event will be at 8pm.

Admission to the event is free with a valid day ticket or Annual Pass (selected dates), however advance online booking is recommended as it is likely to prove very popular.

Day ticket prices start from £36.95 per adult, and £27.70 per child. You can find more information at www.longleat.co.uk/whats-on/sky-safari or call 01985 844400.
