Mum-of-22 Sue Radford takes family on magical Christmas holiday in the UK

Mum to Britain’s biggest family,Sue Radford, flaunted her latest family holiday on Instagram this week. Over the last couple of years, Sue has been on dozens of holidays – some with her 22 children and others with a select few.

Some of her more recent trips include breaks away in the Maldives, Disneyland and New York with her daughters. But, her latest holiday was far closer to home as Sue posted about a recent trip to Edinburgh. Sue and her husband, Noel Redford, took their huge family to the Scottish city for a Christmas break away.

The parents, who fund their large brood using cash from their pie bakery and their TV show, 22-kids-and-counting, shared a number of photos and videos to their social media account @theradfordfamily. In the clips the couple’s many kids can be seen wrapped up warm in hats and coats while digging into sweet treats.

They also got to see the fun fair rides on offer over the festive season and got stuck into the ice rink too. The smaller children used penguin guiders to help them not to fall over on the slippery ice – no mean feat considering their ages.

Sue and Noel are mum and dad to 22 children in total – including Chris, 34, Sophie, 29, Chloe, 28, Jack, 26, Daniel, 24, Luke, 23, Millie, 22, Katie, 21, James, 20, Ellie, 18, Aimee, 17, Josh, 16, Max, 14, Tillie, 13, Oscar, 12, Casper, 11, Hallie, eight, Phoebe, seven, Archie, six, Bonnie, five, and Heidie, three. So far, Sue has stuck to her word that little Heidie will be their last child.

Now, they seem to be focusing on spending time with their children – whether in the UK or abroad. The family spend plenty of time on holidays though as they've been on a whopping 22 holidays over the last two years.

This includes their many trips in their expensive camper van – including driving up to Cornwall and the Lake District. However, they've also gone further afield with their little ones to Lapland, Disneyland and Dubai.

Despite clearly enjoying going away as a family, Sue and Noel have admitted before that it's one of the most difficult parts of their lives as mum and dad to a massive family. Sue claims it’s very tricky to "get everybody together" for such plans. As eight of their 22 children are adults we can see it being difficult!

In a YouTube video, Sue said: "I think it’s like planning holidays and going out on day trips and stuff and making sure everybody is all together. I think that’s probably the hardest part."

The Edinburgh Christmas markets are a great choice for families looking for a top staycation. The markets run for seven weeks from November 17 to January 6 2024. There are also light shows, events, shows and more that bring the city to life throughout winter.

These include the Castle of Light where Edinburgh Castle’s walls are lit up with light displays, a torchlight procession that celebrates Hogmanay on December 29 and the Night Afore Disco Party on December 30.

Luckily, for the Radfords their 10-bedroom former care home house in Morecambe, Lancashire, isn't too far of a drive from Edinburgh in Scotland. The journey takes around three hours and 20 minutes to complete making it a great hotspot for the mega-sized family to enjoy.
