A brand new water park has opened up in the UK – and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to pretend they’re in Takeshi’s Castle or an episode of Gladiators. While most kids won’t remember either of those shows they’ll still have fun being warriors on the exciting course.
The new Aqua Park at Foxlake Adventures obstacle course opened this weekend for the first time in Dunbar in water park, to the east of Edinburgh. It seems like it will make a bit splash in the area!
There’s well over 20 Ninja Warrior-style aspects to get stuck into including a tyre run, ninja-jump, eagles nest, a 3.8m Mount Rainer slide and 2m high freefalling slides. Players have to give their all to the course which uses your climbing skills, agility, high jumps and pace to finish, Edinburgh Live reported.

Gullane U11s football team were on hand this weekend to put the course through its paces ahead of the grand opening on Monday. The young footballers were invited to the lake to get a sneak peek of the course, which is opening two months ahead of schedule, testing their balance, coordination and strength to stop themselves from belly flopping into the water below.
The new Aqua Park is the latest addition to activities at the watersports adventure hub, which includes two cable wakeboarding runs, inflatable Ringo Rides and FoxFall, the UK’s first above-water ropes assault course. Foxlake Adventures also has Segways trails, an adventure play park, a recently installed wood-fired pop-up sauna, Jay Birds Café and also hosts various wakeboarding championships and swimming events throughout the year.
James Barbour, director of Foxlake Adventures, said: "Huge thanks to everyone including the brilliant team at Foxlake Adventures and all of the contractors who worked so hard on the Aqua Park project to help deliver it two months ahead of schedule and to the young footballers at Gullane FC who rose to the challenge to test it out ahead of the opening tomorrow.
"It was great to see the daredevils test their balance, agility, speed and endurance as they made their way around the Aqua Park, tackling all the obstacles including the Ninja-Jump and Mount Rainer slide, which seemed to be their favourite!. Thanks also to Arlene from Forth One for dropping in too and helping us to officially declare it open.
"It’s a fantastic addition to the action-packed activities we have at Foxlake Adventures, including wakeboarding, Ringo Rides, FoxFall and our Segways – making for an even bigger action-packed fun day out."
Entry to the Aqua Park costs £19 per person for a 50 minute session, with all kit hire included. All you need to bring is swimwear, a towel, and a padlock.
Children must be six-years-old or older and 1.1m tall, with children under eight needing an adult to accompany them. Children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult over 18 on site . Everyone who takes part in the course must be able to swim at least 25m.
It’s not the only waterpark set to take the UK by storm, however. A huge new £250million water park is preparing to open its doors in the UK.
We're talking over 20 pools, 35 water slides, a wave pool, and the UK's first indoor beach. For those who are after something a little less fast-paced, there will also be thermal baths, an on-site spa and 30 saunas, as well as a 'wellbeing garden' and fitness classes.
