Skyscanner shares cheapest weeks to fly in summer

According to new research from Skyscanner, more than three quarters of Britons are planning to go on holiday this summer but over a third still haven’t booked their trip.

To help Britons plan the perfect trip this summer, the team have devised a Savings Generator to help tourists find the best time for their destination.

The expert team have also shared a few top cost-cutting flight tips for the third of Britons still looking to book this summer.

Laura Lindsay, Skyscanner’s travel trends and destination expert, said: “We know how much Brits look forward to and research their summer holiday break – this year more so than any!

“It’s therefore our duty to analyse all the data we have access to and share this insight via our Savings Generator, updated for summer 2023 so UK travellers know how to make their money go further this summer.”

Travel the last week of the summer holiday

Sksycanner’s expert team found that only 10 percent of searches are for the cheapest week of the summer school holidays.

Although the first two weeks of the summer holidays are the most popular time to travel, they’re also the most expensive.

Tourists could save a whopping 16 percent on the price of their holiday by travelling the last week of the school holidays rather than the first.
