New research by money.co.uk analysed the best coastal relocation destinations using several important factors. The team looked at average sea temperature, rainfall, property price, cost of living and more to find the best destinations for British expats.
The best coastal destination in the world was Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Doha is set to host the World Cup in 2022.
Water temperatures are almost 25 degrees on average while salaries are high at an average of £41,033 per year.
Expats will need to respect Qatar’s laws in Doha, including not drinking alcohol in public and only in licensed venues.
The top three coastal destinations were all located in the Middle East, with two more of the region’s cities topping the rankings.
Abu Dhabi in the UAE, came second in the coastal destination rankings with one of the warmest sea temperatures recorded.
Dubai was ranked the third best coastal destination for British expats where average temperatures reach 28 degrees.
Dubai is also an extremely popular destination for British tourists who travel to enjoy the city’s weather and incredible activities.
From Ain Dubai to the world’s highest infinity pool, Dubai is known for smashing world records.
A little closer to home, one Spanish city made the top 10 best coastal destinations for British expats.
The Spanish city of Valencia ranked as the 10th best coastal city for British expats to move to.
The birthplace of paella, Valencia is close to beaches and has one of Europe’s loveliest parks.
Valencia is also known for its incredible City of Arts and Sciences and huge aquarium, L’Oceanogràfic.
Twitter user ibeam23 tweeted: “Valencia is so beautiful. I haven’t had any issues as an expatriate.”
Martha Miller, an expat in Valencia, tweeted: “Took a random turn and found myself at Mercado Central. Vibrant colours, delicious aromas, freshness and variety. So much fun.”
Many British expats choose to settle a little further south than Valencia in the Spanish Costa Blanca region.
Top destinations include Dénia, Benidorm and Alicante, all of which offer expats stunning beaches and wonderful weather.
The beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona also made the top 25 best coastal destinations, ranking 24th in the world.
According to Barcelona’s city register, an estimated 9,000 UK nationals live in the vibrant coastal city.
Three of the top 10 destinations were in the USA. Daytona Beach in Florida is popular with retirees and has a lively boardwalk.
Miami Beach is one of the USA’s favourite beaches and expats might even spot celebrities on its sands.
Tampa in Florida is a fantastic nightlife destination making it a good choice for party loving Britons.
