Pluckley, Kent
Known as Britain’s most haunted village, Pluckley even holds the title in the Guinness Book of Records. The spooky town is thought to have around 12 ghostly inhabitants although some believe there are more.
Ghostly residents include a Gypsy woman who drowned in a stream, a schoolmaster’s hanging body and a lady who haunts the churchyard of St Nicholas’s.
Wharram Percy, Yorkshire
A deserted pre-medieval village in North Yorkshire, Wharram Percy is thought to have been abandoned by the 16th century. Ancient human bones found at the site shows people were burned, mutilated and dismembered.
Experts believe this was done to stop corpses rising from their graves and attacking the living.
Samlesbury, Lancashire
Paranormal enthusiasts claim that Samlesbury Hall has a ghostly past and have described the spot as one of the UK’s most haunted places. A murdered and decapitated priest is thought to roam the halls while witch trials are thought to have taken place there.
