UK water park is ‘best in Europe’ – and visitors say it’s ‘more fun in the rain’

The UK has plenty of theme parks and fun days out to enjoy with the kids over the summer holidays. But, did you know one of the nation’s waterparks is considered the best in Europe?

Beating aqua parks across all of mainland Europe including Spain, France and Portugal Brits say it’s "even more fun in the rain" – which is handy considering the wet summer we’re having.

Dorset Adventure Park is nestled in a valley beside the ruins of Corfe Castle and it is the best Europe has to offer when it comes to places to get thoroughly wet – from lakes rather than rain. The abundance of activities at the park means it's fun for all the family including an inflatable assault course.

It boasts 4.71 out of five stars when it comes to Tripadvisor reviews, and beat out the likes of Poland's Energylandia, Siam Park in Tenerife, Spain and Aquapark Istralandia in Croatia, which are closer to what you'd expert from a waterpark with flumes and synthetic rapids.

The adventure park lives up to the name, not only offering a series of wipe-out style courses, but also mud trail assault runs as well. It's perfect for those who love the outdoors and want to get stuck in.

The park is set across 18 acres of woodland and two lakes, each featuring different inflatable obstacles for you to tackle. More than 200m of wet inflatable courses provide a bracing challenge for families and groups of friends.

Embracing the more challengingly moist weather that sets the UK apart from our European neighbours to the south, pride of place in the park is the Dorset Mud Trail – "great on a sunny day, but even more fun in the rain."

It has 50 different muddy obstacles over a 2km trail that will leave you exhausted and absolutely caked by the finish line. As you might expect, the reviews online are positively glowing.

"On holiday nearby, we arrived at the park to be told a glitch on the booking system shouldn't have let us book a slot on the day/time we had. Instead of the 'computer says no' attitude you often get, they couldn't have been more helpful, and accommodated us brilliantly," one happy customer wrote.

Another added: "We had a great time at Dorset Waterpark on the inflatable lakes. A beautiful setting and everything was very well organised and safe. The lifeguards really make the place safe-a special mention to Katie for being so great with our children. We will definitely come back next summer."

Another punter said it was "the best family day out with teenage kids, we laughed none stop" and a fourth simply added that it was "very muddy".

Tickets to access the waterpark cost £20 for a one hour session. You can also hire wetsuits for £5 and socks for £2.50. You can find out more at dorsetadventurepark.com.
