The hiking specialists at Millets, looked at walking options around the UK to find the country’s best. They checked for facilities, child-friendly restaurants, average temperatures and number of visitors.

The New Forest National Park topped the list, beating off stiff competition from the Lake District and Snowdonia.
Over a quarter of the walks in the beautiful national park are child-friendly while there are 48 family friendly campsites in the area.
A visitor wrote on Tripadvisor: “This is a lovely place to walk to get away from it all and see the wild horses roam in serenity.
“We went there to get away from all the hustle and bustle from working in a busy town.”
Another person wrote: “If you enjoy walking, beautiful scenery and seeing the lovely New Forest ponies, donkeys and cows as well as other wildlife, this is the place for you.
“We walked on average 10km a day over a range of terrain but there’s walks here for everyone.”
The New Forest is one of the UK’s top destinations for wildlife walkers with more than 5,000 wild ponies across the terrain.
After hiking, families could check out the nearby National Motor Museum or Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway.
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park took second place and was Wales’ best hiking destination.
The gorgeous coastal park has incredible sea views and boasts over 600 miles of public footpaths.
Almost half of the park’s walks are under 10km, making it the perfect destination for a family-friendly hike.
During summer, families can head to the beach after a hike to explore secluded coves and rock pools.
Exmoor National Park also beat the Lake District in the rankings and almost 80 percent of the park’s restaurants are child friendly.
Over 60 percent of walks in the park are under 10km, making it an easy destination for families.
Snowdonia had more family-friendly campsites than any other destination on the list while just eight percent of walks in the Lake District were child-friendly.
Dartmoor National Park took the 10th spot on the list with 62 percent of its hiking trails coming in under 10km.
