Woman exposes how influencers fake ‘perfect’ hotel snaps on holiday

A body positive influencer has revealed how social media stars manage to pull off "perfect" holiday pictures.

Revealing the fake side of Instagram, Danae Mercer told her 2.4 million followers: "Don't compare your holiday snaps."

She also exposed tips and tricks influencers use create those "perfect" holiday snaps with gorgeous views and glorious lighting – and it turns out a lot of it is pretty fake.

Danae created a TikTok video showing the hacks people use to get their images looking super slick and their tums looking super trim.

The video shows how they create a make-shift bed in the best spot, posing in ways that hide their wobbly bits and then edit and sculpt parts of their bodies to make them look thinner and curvier in all the right places.

She ends the video by simply saying: "Online is curated."

Writing on TikTok, Danae said: "How influencers get BEDS with the MOST amazing VIEWS.

"You ready for the ‘BIG SECRET’?

"The move the duvet. And stage a ‘bed’ whenever they need to. Like I’ve done here.

"BUT if I want super sassy pictures that really make things look Insta-worthy?

"I’d move my duvet and ‘create’ a bed setup – liiiike SO MANY influencers do.

"Then there’s the posing, the empty coffee cups, all that stuff which we’ve talked about before."

She added: "What’s my point? Don’t compare your holiday snaps to theirs.

"Even in the most gorgeous destinations, travel influencers still SET UP shots to tell stories.

"And that’s ok. That’s art and cool. But it’s also cool just to take happy laughing pics from the comfort of your own bed.

"Posed or relaxed or anyway at all."

The video has received more than 7,000 likes since it was posted, and the writer has been dubbed "empowering" by her female followers.

One person commented: "I'm just going to say it… you're the most important person on social media right now. Thank you."

A second added: "This page is so soothing and empowering all at once.

"It makes me feel pretty and free."

A third said: "Wow, it is so easy for them to do that. Never would've known without you."

Meanwhile, a fourth simply questioned: "Is that how they do it?"
