A woman is being urged to divorce her husband over his 'unacceptable' decision to always ditch her for First Class when they're flying on family holidays.

The mum-of-two recently revealed that whenever they travel as a family, her husband opts to fly First Class, but books economy tickers for herself and the two children.

The anonymous mum shared her concern with the New York Times, explaining that her husband blames the cost for the decision, and not wanting to leave their kids feeling left out.

She wrote: "He justifies flying alone in first class because of the cost, and the fact that our kids (12 and 16) might feel alone if I were to travel in first with him and leave them in the rear cabin. I feel that this is unfair."

The annoyed parent also asked whether it was unfair of her to want to fly in First Class with him – and potentially opt to leave the kids in economy.

She added: "My husband has suggested travelling alone on a different flight ahead of us so that we don’t feel badly about the disparity, but this does not really address or solve the problem of the inherent selfishness in his thinking.

"Am I wrong? We are happy to travel, and love going places together, but it is still very strange."

Well, her husband has incurred the wrath of the internet, with people flocking to comments sections and urging her to leave him immediately, describing him as "appalling".

"What did I just read?" one person wrote. "Divorce him and he can travel ALONE all he wants."

Another added: "Your husband doesn’t value you. The conversation needs to go way deeper. If he won’t discuss or go to therapy. Get a good lawyer."

One man quipped that his wife would divorce him "at the suggestion" of ditching her in a similar manner, while another said that they didn't know "who you've been allowing this", pointing out that there are plenty of ways to upgrade the family from points cards to loyalty schemes.

While people were sympathetic to the mum, others were not impressed with her suggestion that the parents should travel together but keep the kids in economy.

One disgruntled holidaymaker wrote: "Not acceptable. The entire family should travel together. It would not be right for you to travel first class with him and put the children in economy nor economy plus either. You are a family. Travel together."

A handful of people seemed to take the husband's side, often on the assumption that he was paying for the whole trip himself.

Others also suggested that at the very least, he could offer to swap so that each parent had a First Class flight on the journey.
