CANNES, France — Belmond has unveiled plans for Katanchel, A Belmond Hotel, its fourth Mexico property. It is slated to open in the Yucatan capital of Merida in 2027.
Belmond vice president of strategy and corporate communications Nicolas Streff announced the project during a media event here on Monday during the ILTM Cannes luxury travel trade show.
According to Streff, Katanchel will be housed in a traditional, hacienda-style estate that dates back to the 17th century.
Katanchel will join the recently reopened Maroma near Cancun, Casa de Sierra Nevada in San Miguel de Allende and Milaroca, which is due to open in 2025 along the Riviera Nayarit on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
