Ensemble Travel Group will cease operations in Australia and
New Zealand by the end of the month.
While the consortium is heavily concentrated in North
America with more than 700 member locations, it did have 44 member locations in
Australia and New Zealand as of October 2019. Ensemble will also close a
regional office in Sydney which had three employees.
Ensemble expanded into Australia and New Zealand in
2015. CEO David Harris said he was disappointed its expansion didn’t grow as
planned, and offered his thanks to members and Ensemble’s team in the region.
“Over the past five years, Ensemble has pursued several
viable business opportunities including expansion in Australia and New Zealand,”
Harris said in a statement. “But as our goal is always to operate a profitable
model for our members, we regretfully have had to make the difficult business
decision to discontinue our operations in this market. This was due in large
part to not being able to develop and maintain the kind of critical mass needed
to sustain this effort.”
