Globus is launching an itinerary and two extension packages in Portugal for 2024 as the company expands its portfolio to the Iberian Peninsula.
The new 7-day Taste of Portugal itinerary from Porto to Lisbon will take guests on an immersive tour featuring the culinary and cultural highlights of Portugal’s most popular cities.
Guests will start with a walking tour of Porto in the city center and enjoy a glass of port before boarding a scenic river cruise. In the evening, guests will dine at Sandeman Wine Cellars, best known as makers of port and sherry wine.
After spending two nights in Porto, guests will move on to Coimbra, which was once Portugal’s capital. Here travelers will explore the city’s historic university, Moorish alleyways and be treated to authentic fado, in addition to tasting wines from the region.
The tour caps off with two nights in Portugal’s capital city of Lisbon where guests will walk the city’s historic streets and tour sites such as the Monument of the Discoveries and Belem Tower.
Guests can now also add on two new destinations to their Taste of Portugal itineraries with three nights in the Azores or in Madeira.
In the Azores, known as the Hawaii of the Atlantic, guests will enjoy activities such as whale-watching, hiking around volcanic craters and soaking in geothermal pools.
In Madeira, known as the Garden of the Atlantic, guests will indulge in tapas, taste even more wines from the region and discover quaint fishing villages and towns.
Departures for the 7-day Taste of Lisbon itinerary begin in May 2024 and fares start at $1,849 per person. For guests who would like to add extensions to Madeira or the Azores to make their tours an 11-day itinerary, fares begin at $3,309 per person.
The new land tours in Portugal for Globus come as Avalon Waterways, part of the Globus family of brands, prepares to launch a new ship and itinerary on the Douro River.
