Internova Travel Group plans to be carbon-neutral by the end of the year.
The company, No. 9 on Travel Weekly’s 2022 Power List, has introduced two programs for customers to offset travel-related carbon emissions. The new programs were developed using learnings from various industry initiatives as well as the partnership Internova launched last year with Sustainable Travel International.
The Climate Positive Program for corporate clients assess sustainability efforts. It also helps clients measure and develop options to offset emissions.
The Climate Action Program enables leisure travelers to make a 1% contribution of their trip cost to partially offset emissions. Internova said it is also working with its travel advisors on sustainability training, including how to build sustainable itineraries.
Internova president Gabe Rizzi said that the company plays two important roles in encouraging sustainable travel.
“The first is spreading awareness of climate change through education and of the actions we can take today to help minimize its impacts around the world. Secondly, we are on our path to becoming carbon neutral by the end of 2023. We believe we should lead by example as one of the world’s largest travel services distribution companies.”
