Gleneagles Townhouse

Opened in July, the 33-room Gleneagles Townhouse is located in a restored building overlooking St. Andrew Square. At the heart of the new hotel is the Spence, a cavernous gathering space with a glass-domed ceiling offering brasserie dining all day.

There’s also a spa, gym, members club and meetings rooms in addition to the roof terrace bar Lamplighters with breathtaking views of the Old Town.

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

Opened in June, the 222-room, pet-friendly Virgin Hotels Edinburgh is set in the heart of the Old Town. There’s a 24-hour fitness center and three dining options: the Commons Club, a sleek social club with seasonal cuisine and cocktails; Eve, for all-day dining; and the Funny Library Coffee Shop, a cafe with coffee and pastries as well as shelves of local literature to peruse by the fireplace.

Hotels opening in 2023

100 Princes Street (a Red Carnation Hotel)

Red Carnation’s 30-room luxury hotel, 100 Princes Street, is set to open in August 2023 in the address of the former Overseas League, at one time a home away from home for Scottish explorers.

The hotel has worked with Croxford & Saunders on a hand-painted mural over the central staircase, and the fireplace in the hotel lounge offers panoramic windows which frame Edinburgh Castle. The new hotel promises a 2:1 staff ratio.

W Edinburgh 

Slated to open in winter 2023 in the center of the new St. James Quarter, W Edinburgh marks W Hotels’ debut in Scotland. The 244-room hotel includes 43 suites, a rooftop with a SushiSamba restaurant and an outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the city’s skyline.

In addition, the hotel will feature a W Sound Suite, an Away Spa and Fit, the brand’s take on wellness.
