New research from Airbnb shows that we’re hungry for unique, aesthetic, stylish stays like never before.

Searches for one-of-a-kind home stays have nearly doubled (up 94 per cent) since the start of the pandemic. Call it the TikTok effect, #DoingItForTheGram or simply a desire to make up for lost time, the demand for quirky, offbeat and distinctive getaways has never been greater.

Whether you’re after a beachside getaway, glamping in a yurt, a farmstay with a difference or an off-the-grid tiny home, you’re bound to find it here. These are Airbnb’s most wishlisted stays of 2021.

Located in the Gold Coast Hinterland, this luxury tent is an African safari, closer to home. A brief five-minute drive away, you’ll find the world-renowned “heart-shape waterfall” also known as Killarney Glen, and the Gold Coast theme parks and beaches are also less than an hour away.

The property in the Macedon Ranges sleeps up to four guests. Along with the accommodation, there’s also a retro tiki bar, undercover barbecue and campfire area surrounded by fairy lights. Although the tram was recently damaged by a storm, it’s currently undergoing restoration with the help of a GoFundMe page, with all donations redeemable towards a booking once it reopens.
