Virgin Voyages, Richard Branson’s adult-only cruise line, will require all passengers and crew to be\u00a0vaccinated for COVID-19 before boarding, the company announced Tuesday.\u00a0Virgin Voyages is one of the first ocean-going cruise lines to commit to fully vaccinated cruises on all of its ships going forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“We’re really encouraged by the latest rollout plans in the May time frame from the new administration, and we know the future is about vaccinations,” Tom McAlpin, Virgin Voyages’ president and CEO, said in a statement shared with USA TODAY.<\/p>\n
The cruise line has had a\u00a0slow start thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, which squashed Virgin’s\u00a0plans\u00a0to launch in April 2020. Now, after multiple delays\u00a0its\u00a0first ship, Scarlet Lady, is\u00a0scheduled to debut in July.<\/p>\n
