The war in Ukraine is beginning to affect how travelers think about visiting Europe, according to an MMGY Global survey.

MMGY said it surveyed “hundreds of U.S. travelers” with plans to visit Europe, and of those surveyed, 62% said concerns of the war spreading to nearby countries was a factor impacting their plans.

Additionally, 47% want to wait to plan Europe travel to see how the situation in Ukraine evolves.

Half of respondents were concerned about potential travel disruptors like border closures and delays or cancellations of flights, cruises and trains.

MMGY Global CEO Clayton Reid said travel advisors and suppliers should remind travelers about flexible cancellation and rebooking policies.

“It is also my belief that this hesitancy is short-lived and that prior to the peak travel season to Europe, sentiment will return to much more positive levels,” he added.
