Cherry Creek Trail enthusiasts near downtown Denver should consider other options Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday as authorities plan for flooding along the channel.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers will conduct its annual sediment flush of the Cherry Creek Dam and reservoir, the agency said in a news release last week.<\/p>\n
That means higher-than-normal water flows and flooding along the Cherry Creek channel Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Higher water levels could temporarily flood bike paths and stream crossings below the dam, the news release said.<\/p>\n
Denver Parks and Recreation said on Twitter that trail crews “will monitor water levels and clean up debris early Wednesday.”<\/p>\n
“Please consider using alternate routes and don’t attempt to cross high water,” parks officials said.<\/p>\n
Caution tape will be placed along ramps leading to low areas where water levels could be higher, the city noted.<\/p>\n
