Royal Caribbean crew members help to design their cabins
Icon of the Seas, the world’s biggest ever cruise ship, is set to launch in January 2024. The Royal Caribbean ship will have 2,805 staterooms and can carry over 5,600 guests.
Unsurprisingly, the mammoth vessel will also carry thousands of crew. There’s likely to be over 2,300 crew onboard the ship.
But what’s life like for the crew onboard the world’s biggest cruise ship?
Royal Caribbean has offered cruise fans a sneak peek at the new cabin design for crew on Icon of the Seas. Crew have their own neighbourhood onboard and passengers will never get to see it.
The ship’s crew have a gym, salon, restaurant and hangout area in their neighbourhood across four decks on the lower levels of Icon of the Seas.

Icon of the Seas’ crew are expected to come from more than 80 countries and the crew market will stock items that reflect that diversity.
Over 1,000 crew were involved in the bedroom design process with staff members spanning 25 positions onboard.
Shared between two, the final bedroom is L-shaped with curtains to offer each crew member a little privacy. The rooms have a small closet and desk space.

Outside of the cabin, crew members have access to several communal spaces to use during their free time.
The crew’s clubhouse has ping pong tables, a bar and coffee facilities as well as several TVs and massage chairs.
On Icon of the Seas, crew will also have live cooking stations in their restaurant, offering a better experience for staff.
Away from the crew areas, Icon of the Seas will be home to some incredible new guest features. The ship will have six record-breaking waterslides.
Icon of the Seas will also have seven pools and nine whirlpools as well as Royal Caribbean’s iconic Central Park area.
