Saint-Tropez is a very popular holiday destination in the south of France. Located in the Côte d’Azur, the town has become synonymous with celebrities, wild partying and luxury over the years, but it has more to offer than initially meets the eyes.

It would be impossible to head to Saint-Tropez and not check out the Old Harbour.

The Vieux Port is the place to be for people watching, for a stroll on the promenade or a drink with a view.

Early risers will also enjoy the markets around the harbour.

Place aux Herbes is the market square and will give holidaymakers a chance to buy flowers, fruits and vegetables.

The Halle aux Poissons is the daily fish market, a good place to see chefs buying their produce for the day.

The Saint-Tropez market takes place twice a week at Place des Lices.

The plaza isn’t about glamorous celebrities, even if Mick Jagger and Bianca had their wedding reception at the still-standing Café des Arts located there. 

This is where locals gather for a game of pétanque, or boules and get a casual drink.

One of the main attractions of the south of France are the beaches.

Beaches in Saint-Tropez are often private.

Right in town, however, tourists will find Bouillabaisse beach.

The public beach is one of the most popular beaches in Saint-Tropez and it’s easy to understand why.

With white sands and turquoise waters, Bouillabaisse beach is fantastic for a day of relaxing.

It also becomes a great spot in the evening, with the sun setting behind the Massif des Maures mountains.

Most tourists to the French town will want to head to La Ponche.

The legendary beach was made famous by Brigitte Bardot in And God Created Woman.

The tiny beach is easily accessible from the old town and tourists will find it between the Portalet Tower and Vieille Tower.

Locals usually head to Les Canebiers beach, reachable in a few minutes from town.

If a 45 minutes walk doesn’t deter tourists, La Moutte beach is a real gem located after Les Canebiers.

For tourists who’d rather not walk but still want some peace and quiet, Les Graniers beach is in town and secluded.

Saint-Tropez is a seaside resort town but exploring away from the coast is worth a go.

Going up the Citadel gives impressive views over the bay and history-lovers will be able to marvel at the 17th century walls.

La Ponche is the Old Town, and a fantastic destination for a stroll through old narrow streets.
