Britons planning a UK holiday will be looking at the weather to decide where to go. But it’s not only the popular counties of Devon and Cornwall that get good weather.
In fact, when combined with price restraints, neither Cornwall nor Devon make it into the top 10 lists.
HomeToGo has registered a search increase of 376 percent for autumn holidays in England this year compared to 2020.
Staycations are not going anywhere, but where should Britons go?
Looking at price, average temperatures, sunlight and rainfall, HomeToGo named the best counties to go to for maximum sun and minimum costs.

Eleanor Moody, UK Market Manager at HomeToGo, said: “While Cornwall remains the most-searched staycation destination for autumn, we have seen an increase in the interest for alternative coastal spots and more inland locations this season.
“As the results of HomeToGo’s ‘More Sun for Your Money’ ranking suggests, venturing outside of England’s most popular staycation spots can be a great way to find some top bargains.”
The best location to plan a sunny staycation in was revealed to be Bedfordshire.
The county is home to Dunstable Downs, part of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
In joint number two were Norfolk and Northamptonshire.
Norfolk has 90 miles of coastline and a trip to the beach will be one of the most attractive options for Britons in the county on a sunny day.
Blue Flag beaches include Cromer, East Runton, Mundesley, Sea Palling, Sheringham and West Runton, while Blakeney Point and Horsey have great seal-spotting opportunities.
Northamptonshire is home to many stately homes to visit for a historic holiday.
Hertfordshire came up fourth.
The county is a favourite of filming crews and visitors will be able to St. Albans Cathedral (The Crown), Knebworth (The King’s Speech, Paddington 2) and Hatfield House (The Favourite, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Harry Potter).
Essex was fifth on the list.
Whether on the coast or inland, Essex is a fantastic destination for Britons.
On the coast, Wrabness and Stour Estuary nature reserves are worth a look, while Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is inland.
The bottom five counties are Surrey, Rutland, Cambridgeshire, Sussex and Hampshire.
