An incredible new scheme was launched by Jet2, with Britons able to bid on overseas holidays. With the lowest bidder winning, reports of a seven-night Crete escape for 2p or seven-night in Greece for less than £2 are making headlines.
Jet2Holidays has let Britons “Bid for a Break”.
Destinations in across Europe, the Mediterranean and Canary Islands are up for grabs.
A new seven-night holiday is added every week, with destinations such as the Balearics, Canary Islands, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and Spain included.
Every Monday, bids open at 9am and can be placed until midday on the Thursday, with the winner announced the same day.

Unsuccessful bidders receive a discount code for £100 off their next Jet2 holidays.
Steve Heapy, chief executive officer of Jet2 and Jet2Holidays, said: “We know how much UK holidaymakers want to get away to enjoy some much-needed sunshine.”
He continued: “And now we are giving them the chance to do just that in a fun way for only a few pence or pounds.”
The woman who will jet off to Crete for 2p was the only bidder.
She got the chance to buy her holiday at the unique bid amount, and it was a real bargain.
Steve said: “Everyone deserves the chance to get away and our ‘Bid for a Break’ campaign offers every person to do just that without breaking the bank, so make sure you have a bid in mind for next week’s holiday.”
With the opening up of international borders and a new traffic light travel review next week, a holiday abroad may be on the cards for many Britons.
And now they even have the chance to pay less than the price of a cup of coffee for seven-nights in the sun.
This week’s seven-night holiday is to Costa De Almeria in Spain.
One social media user said: “Never been to Spain so this would be great.”
While another, inspired by the two pence holiday to Crete, said: “Love this holiday it says a few pence so two pence it is.”
Next week’s bids will be for a three-night stay for two at a four-star-plus hotel in Majorca.
Interested holidaymakers can bid on the app and hope theirs is the lowest bid on the holiday.
Customers need to download the Jet2holidays app and fill out the form with their contact details.
They will then be able to add in their bid to the nearest pence and wait to see if they’ve won.
Steve said: “If you fancy paying just a few pence for your next sunshine getaway, make sure you get involved and place your bid.
“With a range of fantastic holidays to bid on, what could be better than going on a much-needed getaway, knowing that you’ve paid the same price for it as the cost of your favourite coffee, or takeaway?”
