Cabin crew staff explain how passengers can get ‘free booze and snacks’ onboard

Flight attendants have an important role of making sure passengers have a smooth and enjoyable service.

And if you're looking for that first class, VIP sort of treatment, then here's a couple of tips you need to know.

According to a thread on Reddit, there are some simple ways passengers can improve their chances of premium treatment.

The anonymous crew members pitched in to help holidaymakers to understand how they can benefit from freebies onboard.

Just remember this won't always promise an upgrade to business or first class, the staff member said it can provide some perks.

But being polite can go along way as some of these cabin crew members say on the online forum.

One crew member said: "I always treated friendly people better, including free booze and snacks."

While being polite is a handy way to gain respect, flight attendants said it can make all the difference in the world.

The worker claimed: "On some of our aircraft we have 396 passengers in economy class.

"If I greet half of them and a few smile back then it means we are going to have a smooth and happy flight since they look happy."

Also being polite doesn't just come handy when getting free beverages or snacks.

An anonymous crew member added: "Sometimes they'll just thank you.

"Sometimes they'll ask where you're sitting – if they do, let them know your seat number and you usually you'll get better service.

"The key here is to do it without expectation of anything in return.

"You need to give them it as their job is tough and have to deal with a lot of people, not because you think it'll get you something."
