Daughter films parent entering ‘dad mode’ as they arrive at airport for holiday

A daughter has made her dad go viral after documenting him switching to "dad mode" as they arrived at an airport for a holiday.

Abbey, from Ireland, travelled with her family to Amsterdam from Dublin Airport on Monday but despite being at the airport early enough, her dad was keen to get a move on.

Sharing the proof on TikTok, Abbey's dad is seen darting off towards the check-in desk as soon as they step into the airport.

When the family-of-four heads to the departure hall, he gets on the escalator before anyone else.

"First onto the escalator – establishing dominance and need for speed," Abbey jokes in the caption.

The parent then turns around to his daughter, Emily, and makes a "condescending wave" as he explains why she couldn't hold her own passport.

While going through the security check, Abbey's dad is determined to do it as quick as possible – even if that means leaving his daughter behind to sort out the carry-on liquids.

Abbey adds: "The silent treatment for Emily as she did not pack her liquids a week in advance."

Being nicknamed the "airport dad", Abbey's father is already metres away from them queueing for the passport control.

And thanks to her dad's efficiency, the TikToker says the family arrived at the infamous 420 gate in "record time" after a paced speed walk.

When they all settle on the plane, Abbey and Emily have to hand over their passports to their dad because "only he can be trusted with such important documents".
