Stationed down on Marston Farm, Wilthshire, this fully refurbished accomodation is the only staycation of its kind in the county, less than 10 minutes from Swindon. Guests who are willing to come aboard will have access to a private secluded outdoor area overlooking the paddock of the 17th century former dairy farm.

Perfect for a couples retreat to the countryside, a firepit and comfy oudoor seating is also on site to keep warm as while watching the sunset across the British outdoors.

If the dreaded British rain hits during your staycation, the railway carriage is covered by a Dutch barn to prevent putting a damper while on holiday.

Inside the wooden vintage railcar lies a kitchenette and en-suite shower room with a fox-themed interior design which offers free wifi and parking.

With a rating of 4.88 stars out of five, superhost Sam has made sure guests have the a luxury stay for just £90 per night.

One reviewer said: “Fantastic hideaway. Very private secluded space with a fire pit/BBQ. Even supplied milk, butter and bread for our arrival so we could have a cup of tea and toast. Loved it.”

Another visitor to Marston Farm said: “My boyfriend and I spent eight nights at this lovely carriage and it couldn’t have been any better. The place is a cute and cosy as the pictures show. It’s absolutely spotless, and the heaters and water work brilliantly!

“The carriage has all the appliances you can possible need. It’s located within the family farm, but it’s a very much private space. Sam, Dave & their family are the loveliest people. We felt welcomed, at home and taken care of by them.”

Nature fans can also look out for the wild rabbits, active beehives and eight rescue dogs who call the farmland home.

But if one bespoke locomotive doesn’t get visitor’s engines running, Swindon is home to STEAM – The Museum of the Great Western Railway.

Marston Farm is also fives minute away from the M4, providing quick access for days out to Oxford, the Cotswolds and Royal Wootton Bassett.
