Flight delays can be annoying, but in most cases the pilot and cabin crew are not able to do anything about it.
As for one pilot, he decided to make this very cute gesture to his passengers boarding his flight.
When travellers were delayed at Oklahoma’s Tulsa International Airport on Monday, the captain on a Mesa Airlines flight, operated by United Express Airlines, bought lunch for every flyer at Fat Guy’s Burger Bar.
According to USA Today, the passengers were delayed by more than two hours earlier this week.
“We’ll pass along your praise to our teams”
A passenger on the flight, Sam Walker, praised the pilot – who has been identified as Matthew Hoshor – in a tweet that has gone viral.
Reps from United Airlines responded directly to the passenger’s tweet, claiming they were “glad to hear” crew members kept them happy.
In a tweet, the airline wrote: “We’ll pass along your praise to our teams.”
Nearly five hours after the scheduled departure time, Sam said the flight to Houston finally went “wheels up” as he sat in first class.
He tweeted: “Awesome captain Mesa has here!”
In a statement to USA Today, a spokesman for Mesa Airlines said the carrier takes “great pride” in its team.
United Airlines, which operates United Express, confirmed on Wednesday the passenger’s tweet was true.
Jonathan Ornstein, who works for Mesa Airlines, said: “He’s a really good guy.
“We’re very proud of him. That he went out of his way like that to take care of the passengers… it really was outstanding customer services, way above and beyond.”
This comes after a man running late for a flight invented a genius “breakfast in a bag”.
Nathan Hethrington grabbed a “airport security” liquids bag and poured his Wetherspoons brunch into it.
He shared a picture of himself enjoying his movable feast to his mates’ WhatsApp group.
