Pinterest and Argos open a hotel based on the 'hottest online trends'

Is this the world’s most stylish place to stay? Designers create hotel rooms based on the ‘hottest online interiors trends’

  • The ‘Argos Mood Hotel’, filled with ‘on-trend’ homeware from Argos, is located in London’s Bethnal Green
  • It’s made up of six different ‘Mood Rooms’ – including a ‘Luxe Room’, an ‘Escape Room’ and a ‘Night Room’

If hotel rooms were designed using what the internet says are the latest decor trends – then they’d look something like these, apparently.

A series of rooms – curated based on the ‘hottest interiors trends emerging online’ – have been unveiled in a pop-up hotel by Argos and the visual inspiration platform Pinterest, ‘immersing guests into a world of interiors inspiration and discovery’.

Known as the ‘Argos Mood Hotel’, the pop-up is made up of six different ‘Mood Rooms’, ranging from a gold-accented ‘Luxe Room’ to a whimsical ‘Play Room’ for adults.

The ‘Argos Mood Hotel’, located in London’s Bethnal Green, is made up of six different ‘Mood Rooms’ 

Decorated in ‘on-trend homeware and furniture from the latest Argos product ranges’, the concept hotel in London’s Bethnal Green will open to the public from Saturday, April 2, until April 4 (scroll to the bottom for more details). 

Not only that, but members of the public can also apply to stay at the trend-led hotel for a night – and some will even win the contents of the stylish rooms.  

To dream up the themes for each hotel room, Pinterest, a site that allows users to make their own visual ‘mood boards’, analysed its users’ most popular searches from October 2019 to September 2021. 

A surge of Pinterest searches year on year for ‘luxury kitchen design’, ‘luxury bedroom master’ and ‘gold bathroom fixtures’ came together to inspire the ‘Luxe Room’.

According to the designers, the ‘Luxe Room’ sets out to create a ‘luxuriously refined feel’

Meanwhile, the ‘Play Room’ – where ‘fresh and funky worlds collide’ – promises to be the ‘epitome of excitable, youthful energy’.

Inspired by Pinterest searches for ‘adult crafts’, ‘bunk rooms for adults’ and ‘cowboy-themed parties for adults’, it’s jam-packed with fun features, from the fuzzball table and dartboard to the colour-pop furniture and the wall art made from soft toys. 

Other ‘Mood Rooms’ in the hotel include the ‘Escape Room’ – billed as ‘modern minimalism at its finest’ – which is ‘all about turning your home into your very own sanctuary’.

Searches for ‘library room’, ‘massage room’ and ‘spa room decor’ informed the design of the ‘Escape Room’

Stemming from a boom in searches for ‘library room’, ‘massage room’ and ‘spa room decor’, the space features muted pastel colours, light wooden furnishings, graphic prints and soft mood lighting. 

Pinterest also picked up on an increase in searches for ‘living room plants’, ‘indoor plant shelf ideas’ and ‘plant wall ideas indoor’, which has inspired The Nature Room, a space steeped in ‘earthy colour tones, rugged textures and biophilic designs’.

Pictures show that the space is decked out with woven baskets, walls of plants, leaf-patterned cushions and furniture upholstered in shades of green. 

The hotel’s ‘Tea Party Room’, meanwhile, was based on a rise in searches for ‘high tea food ideas’, ‘vintage tea party’, and ‘tea party aesthetic’ on Pinterest.

Velvet armchairs in shades of dusty pink and green, colourful dried flowers and brushed brass table lamps are dotted throughout the lounge space.

Finally, there’s the ‘Night Room’ – a ‘futuristic and fun’ space based on Pinterest searches for ‘dreamy room’, ‘moon wallpaper’, ‘night aesthetic bedroom’ and ‘bioluminescence [an organism’s production and emission of light] aesthetic’. Here, the designers opted for dark curtains, neon lighting, bold artwork and an inky colour palette of navy blues and blacks.

Everything featured in the hotel is available to purchase from Argos in-store and online, allowing visitors to ‘put their own twist on The Argos Mood Hotel decor in their very own home’, according to a statement.

Ahead of the opening, Andrew Tanner, Design Manager at Argos, said: ‘This is a great opportunity to bring our homeware to life, immerse and inspire our customers and really demonstrate the ways our design-led furniture and homeware can transform a room.

The designers opted for neon lighting, bold artwork and an inky colour palette of navy blues and blacks in the ‘Night Room’ 

‘Our in-house team is committed to curating a range of beautiful products to inspire and excite all our customers, from opulent furnishings to earthy accents and vibrant decor.
