Insight Vacations has introduced small-group U.S. tours where guests ride in Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans.

Insight Vacations president Guy Young noted a trend toward smaller groups and intimate experiences, and said the van tours are “perfectly suited to meet these growing trends.” 

The seven-day tours accommodate up to 17 guests along with a travel director and professional driver. Tours can be booked for private groups or guests can join scheduled departures. 

Two itineraries focus on outdoor experiences in the western U.S. The Yellowstone Discovery tour kicks off in Bozeman, Mont., with hikes and archery opportunities before departing on a four-day journey into Yellowstone National Park. The trip ends in Jackson Hole, Wyo.

The Best of Northern California tour will start and end in San Francisco and begins with scenic views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Guests visit Muir Woods National Monument, where they’ll get to see thousand-year-old redwood trees before a road trip along the Mendocino coastline and into Sonoma and Napa Valley. 

Also on the agenda: Tours of wineries and visits to Pennyroyal Farm to sample artisan cheese and Anderson Valley Brewing Company for hand-crafted ale. 

Tours incorporate Insight’s Make Travel Matter program, which focuses on sustainable experiences and positive social and environmental impacts.

The Sprinter vans offer spacious seating, overhead luggage compartments, electrical outlets and USB ports, TV monitors, and filtered water dispensers. 

Insight has scheduled three departures for the Yellowstone tour (starting at $4,279 per person) and four for Northern California ($4,125 per person), all leaving in August and September 2022.
