The New York Hilton Midtown, one of the largest hotels in the city, welcomed guests again on Oct. 4 after an 18-month shutdown. 

The 1,878-room property closed in March 2020 at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

“Reopening the doors of the New York Hilton Midtown is another step in the recovery of the great city of New York,” general manager Diarmuid Dwyer said in a statement. “Our team has used this time to reinvent our customer and guest experiences, and we are excited to welcome guests back to the hotel and the city.”

During its reopening week, the hotel is celebrating with a selection of live performances in the lobby, including music from DJs, subway performers and choirs.

The New York Hilton Midtown is located on Avenue of the Americas between 53rd and 54th streets, opposite the Museum of Modern Art and along the Thanksgiving Day Parade route slated to return this year after being canceled in 2020. 

The property, owned by Park Hotels and Resorts, houses 150,000 square feet of event space, the most of any hotel in New York City.
