Spain is one of the top UK tourist destinations and many British people visit the Mediterranean country for sun, sand and sea every year. But while many Britons choose to holiday in the stunning Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca regions, one of Spain’s best beaches is found elsewhere.

In the study, the travel expert team at Bounce looked at important factors such as weather, sea temperature, hotel price and number of restaurants.

They also looked at how many people had tagged the beach in an Instagram holiday post.

While the winning beach was the gorgeous Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, one Spanish beach also made the top 10.

Barceloneta Beach was ranked as the eighth best beach in the world and is a fantastic destination for British tourists.

Located on the edge of the buzzing Spanish city of Barcelona, Playa de La Barceloneta has been hashtagged an incredible 94,600 times on Instagram.

Tourists are spoilt for choice when it comes to a beachside snack as the beach has over 9,500 bars and restaurants.

Hotel prices are reasonable at an average of £134 per night for a hotel room right on the beach.

British tourists holidaying at Barceloneta Beach will also be able to take advantage of everything Barcelona has to offer.

On Tripadvisor, Joanne Hurley said: “Fantastic clean beach, lots of activities like windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding.

“The boardwalk is great for scooters, cycling and any other kind of transport. Very touristy but a great fun place with lots to see and do.”

Snowball’s adventure said: “We visited on a sunny day in September, the temperature of the Mediterranean Sea was perfect and the beach was not crowded at all.”

KiwiKerry33 said: “Beautiful, clean beach provides a nice walk into Barcelona city. Really pleasant, though a slightly cool wind.”

Playa de Barceloneta is located in the city’s fishing quarter and has a reputation for offering excellent seafood.

La Barceloneta is also home to a large aquarium which is a fantastic day trip for any families visiting the area.

Outside of Spain, four of the world’s best beaches for British tourists were located in the USA.

Miami Beach, Venice Beach in Los Angeles, South Beach in Miami and Santa Monica Beach in LA all made the top five beaches.

Miami Beach is one of the most Instagrammed beaches in the world and has been tagged a whopping 14 million times.

Naama Bay, in the top Egyptian tourist resort of Sharm El-Sheikh was also chosen as one of the world’s best beaches.

Pink Sand Beach in Codrington and Mui Ne Beach in Vietnam rounded off the best beaches in the world.
