Flight attendant exposes strict dress code – including never showing tattoos

A flight attendant has lifted the lid on the incredibly strict dress code she had to follow while on duty – explaining airlines get to “dictate everything”.

Kat Kamalani has racked up more than 724,000 followers on her TikTok @katkamalani thanks to her countless videos exposing flight secrets.

In one of her latest videos, she claimed every part of a flight attendant’s appearance while on duty is governed by their airline.

“Your airline gets to dictate everything from head to toe on the way you look,” she said.

“From your hair colour, nail colour, lip colour, your makeup, the way your shoes look, your bag.”

Kat said that, when she was training, there were “entire teams” dedicated to the way you look.

“You can’t have any tattoos showing, the length of your dress, or your uniform, the way you tie your bow,” she continued.

“It was super strict. I swear that I felt like I was in the military because of how strict they are.

“When you’re flying around and you have a manager of an airplane report that you’re off-guideline, you can be in big trouble.

“So being a flight attendant is super strict on the way you look.”

Kat’s video has been seen more than 100,000 times since being shared to TikTok earlier this month.

“No wonder they are always so amazingly well put together,” one viewer wrote.

Another commented: “Same for working at the airport for the airlines. Had to wear heels at all times, certain nail polish allowed, hair must be up and list goes on.”

But not everyone agreed with Kat’s claims, saying it was dependent on which airline you work for.

“I’m a flight attendant and this isn’t too accurate for every airline,” one said.

Someone else wrote: “It’s true but some airlines are more strict than others.”
